The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship has been running for just over a year now, so as Programme Leader this is a perfect time for me to share an update on progress and successes.
The first cohort of students were made up principally of staff from various departments of the Lincolnshire Coop, they have now nearly completed the first year of the course and have done fantastically well with work being produced to consistently high quality levels that has robust practical links to the workplace. A similar theme runs through the work produced by cohorts two and three, within which staff from the NHS, Perkins Engineering, Lincolnshire Council and colleagues from the University of Lincoln are represented. Last week a fourth cohort of students started the course, with students from the NHS and a large group from the Police.
Last week the students took part in a development day called “The CMI Challenge”, delivered at the University by Tracey White and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) as part of the communication and professional practice module. The students had to do a presentation related how they would solve a work based communications issue. Feedback from the day was excellent, with Michael Yorke from the CMI stating that the level of professionalism shown by students on the day was outstanding, and the standard of the work was very high. Andrew Turnbull from the Lincolnshire Coop won the prize for best presentation of the day, this was a great way to cap an excellent first year from him.
As Programme Leader I am immensely proud of the achievements of all the students on the course, and I truly feel that they have all bought into the professional values and ethos of the course. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all colleagues that have helped make this course a success too, in no particular order – Tony, Lucy, Tracey, Chris, Chang, Tim, Stuart, Andrea, Julie, Amy, Nadia, James and Martin (apologies if I missed anyone).
