Lincoln International Business School Human Resources Management student, Claudine Martin, has been named one of the five winners in the Defence Category of the We Are The City Rising Star Awards 2021.
The Rising Star Awards were established to focus attention to the “pipeline of female talent” outside of senior management and to create 100 female role models across various professions and industries.
Claudine, who is a Staff Sergeant in the British Army, is also a part-time student pursuing a BA (Hons) degree in Human Resources Management.
Claudine joined the British Army in 2006 and within six months was deployed to Iraq where she spent two years serving with the Irish Guards and a further year with the Coldstream Guards.
Her experience in the military has included working at the Military Working Dogs Unit, the 22 Engineer Regiment, and the Royal Military Academy. She has also served as a Military Steward at Wimbledon and at the London Olympics.
After 14 years of military service, Claudine now works at 11 Infantry Brigade in Aldershot as the Chief HR, where she is also a member of the executive committee serving as the Events Lead for the Chronic Conditions and Disability in Defence (CANDID) network.
The CANDID network is designed to support military personal living with chronic health conditions and disabilities and their families, which Claudine has experienced having been diagnosed with Lupus five years ago.
Claudine, said of her award win: “I am humbled and proud to be named one of the top five winners in the defence category at this year’s Rising Star Awards.
“I am grateful that my efforts have been recognised and will leverage this award by continuing to raise the awareness for Lupus and be the voice for those who are unable to battle the fight.”
