University of Lincoln Hosts Lincoln Entrepreneurship and Innovation Colloquium

The Lincoln International Business School, (LIBS) successfully hosted the first edition of the Lincoln Entrepreneurship and Innovation Colloquium (LEIC), 27thto 28th April 2023. The event brought together 45 academics from around the world along with PhD students, early career researchers and mentors.

The events objective was to discuss the diverse facets of doctoral and post-doctoral careers and the different possibilities for carrying out empirical research in entrepreneurship and innovation. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a session moderated by Professor Simon Lilley where local entrepreneurs Neil Everatt, Kerry Gibson, Bahar Tömek, Maureen O’Callaghan and Reece Leggett discussed the real challenges for entrepreneurship and innovation in an effort to reduce the research-practice gap.

The event also featured keynote speakers, panel discussions and mentoring workshops on topics such as conducting research, the academic career and the publication journey.

Event highlights were the keynote speeches by Professor Marina Dabić who discussed the importance of meaningful literature reviews, Professor Massimiliano M. Pellegrini’s talk about dealing with Reviewer Two and Professor Matthijs Bal’s theory on Critical Studies in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Attendees were able to network by attending mentoring sessions aimed at improving their research projects overseen by senior researchers and editors.

Dr Andrea Caputo, Associate Professor and Chair of the event commented
