Students from across the College attended a 3 day conference event in September. Over 150 students took part in a range of different activities from ice breakers, group challenges. The main event saw 40 student research teams being created who presented cross disciplinary research on the experiences of commuter, international and mature students and where the research teams were tasked with considering their own sense of belonging in relation to Academic, Social and Enhancement aspects of their first term and first year at Lincoln
The conference benefitted from a world café style event in the David Chiddick Building which formed an important part of this highly engaged student conference. The sessions provided opportunities for reflection and discussion around challenges students face in the transition to university
This year the conference provided 2 keynote speakers Dr Paula O’Brien [College Lead on Student Engagement] and Rhiannon Baker [President of LIBS Business Society].
Students were supported throughout the conference with a dedicated team of Programme Leaders Marie Lawson, David Anderson, Igor Menezes, Paul Igwe, Kevin Blanchard and staff Lezlee Stones, Mahdieh Zeinali, Alison Raby.
The success of the LIBS Annual Student Conference is reflected in a range of external Teaching and Learning forums such as TILT, Diversity in Nations and Communities and Organisations conference and has featured at the RAISE annual conference for student engagement.
