With the first semester of my MSc Management degree at a close, I’m so excited for the next semester! It goes without saying and, just like you’d expect a Masters to be, it was very challenging and demanding but it has such a strong reward to be studying a subject you have such a passion for. I feel like I have developed so much over the last semester with the diverse assignment types such as roleplays, negotiation simulations, reflections, escape rooms, a Mount Everest simulation, presentations and essays that allow you to be creative with your thinking. The staff offered an unwavering amount of support and really pushed you to the next level of thinking; it has made me realise the importance of self-reflection and how it is so necessary for anyone in a leadership role. Along with this, my friendships with students on my course, domestic and international, have blossomed and I’m thankful to have met such incredible people.

I am really looking forward to this term because we were able to choose a couple of optional modules (which I’ve never done before!). The Gender, Power and Business will be fascinating and valuable to my role as the Student Union’s Women’s Officer along with Destination Management and Marketing which will support my future career aspirations. We have a trip to the Peak District and we get to write a report on a tourism destination of our choice! Alongside these, we also have a strategy making module and one that is preparing us for our thesis that we will write in the summer. I feel like all our modules really prepare us for our future management roles and I can’t wait for what’s in store!
