Senior Lecturer & Programme Leader in Accountancy and Finance, James Wright, was invited to collaborate with TargetJobs.com (one of the main UK sites for student prospects/jobs/postgraduate study) and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) last week on a student engagement project.
James had the exciting opportunity to ‘take over’ the Targetjobs Instagram page to answer questions from around the world on the University of Lincoln, his role as an academic and the route to becoming a qualified accountant. James also incorporated student participation with Ashleigh, a current UoL MSc student about her experiences studying at the Business School.
As part of the project, James developed discussions around the following aspects:
1. Planning future Association of Chartered Certified Accountants projects in conjunction with the Lincoln International Business School and the opportunities for increased engagement for accountancy, finance and economics students with professional bodies in order to enhance their student experience.
2. Planning a strategic approach for the 20/21 academic year with the University alumni office to ensure and enable graduate engagement with current students which will include guest talks and online interactive events.
During his social media take over, James engaged with students, professionals and business owners from over 20 countries including the USA, China and India. The related LinkedIn posts have since been trending on #jobs which has a following of 2.4 million users.
James commented: “I am delighted to represent the University in this opportunity to further develop the student experience at Lincoln and would like to thank all of the Accountancy, Finance and Economics department and LIBS colleagues for their continued support.”
