A warm welcome from our new CMDA Programme Leader

Andrew Williams

Andrew trained as a Registered General Nurse in the NHS from 1986 qualifying in 1989 and subsequently joined the RAF serving for over 29 years before retiring as a Warrant Officer in 2020.

During his service he was employed in a variety of posts and establishments including as the Armed Forces Diabetes Nurse Specialist and Training Manager for the Phase 2 Apprenticeship Training of Armed Forces Medics. The latter part of his career focussed on the design, delivery and evaluation of leadership and management training.

Andrew has undertaken numerous operational deployments as a Flight Nurse in the various roles of aeromedical evacuation. On completion of his career, Andrew was made a Member of the Order of St. John for his humanitarian work. Andrew retired from the Royal Air Force in March 2020 and took up the position of Work Based Distance Learning Associate Lecturer moving to be a Module Leader and subsequently Programme Leader for the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship in June 2023.

When congratulating him on his new appointment, Andrew says “I’m looking forward to taking over a quality degree apprenticeship, and welcoming our October cohort. I want to get to know our apprentices and employers better to ensure we are supporting them throughout”.
