LIBS Hosts Department for Transport Working Group

On the 18th November the Lincoln International Business School, (LIBS), recently hosted the UK Department for Transport Strategic Construction Supplier Working Group.

This key annual event was aimed at developing a more collaborative approach amongst organisations who are charged with spending significant amounts of UK taxpayer’s money on national construction projects, for example HS2.

Representatives from a wide range of organisations such as Network Rail, Highways England and Kier were welcomed by LIBS Pro Vice Chancellor and Director Dr Craig Marsh and went on to discuss key opportunities around collaborative working as well as challenges identified as a result of the recent COP26, with respect to the climate change agenda and the achievement of carbon neutral projects and solutions. Key speakers on the day included the Director General Corporate Delivery Group for the Department of Transport and the UK Chief Government Procurement Officer.

“This event proved to be a great success. All delegates were very impressed with LIBS levels of support and enthusiasm and went away with an incredibly positive view of LIBS and Lincoln. We also managed to develop some very promising relationships for future industrial outreach with key players in the strategic construction supply chain and our students relished the opportunity to talk with some of the UK Department for Transport commercial professionals”

Dr Gary Ramsden, Associate Professor Logistics and Operations Management.
