Lincoln International Business School Studies Enhanced by Industry Experts

Undergraduate and postgraduate students from Lincoln International Business School participate in an interactive live session with senior staff from DRPG, a specialist global events agency who are pioneers for creative communications.

Ensuring that students have access to the very latest information whilst at the Lincoln International Business School is of great importance to us.  It allows them to be on the cutting edge of current affairs, equipped and able to respond and adapt accordingly.

With this in mind, Andy Suddaby, Programme Leader for MSc Events Management, organised a fantastic opportunity for students studying events management, sports business, tourism, and heritage and culture to participate in a virtual event where they had the chance to interact with leading event experts.

Andy described the event as a “real, not-to-be-missed opportunity for students to engage online with a specialist events agency ideally placed to talk about the latest trends and employability challenges facing our event-based industries.”

DRPG Director, Matt Franks, and Head of Innovation, Callum Gill, were able to discuss latest trends and behaviours along with providing learners with an insight into what events are likely to look like in the medium to long term in response to the global pandemic.

Graduate employment in the events sector was also discussed, with top professionals being able to offer students quality advice and guidance. With the opportunity for a question and answer session, students were able to put forward any queries or concerns they had, and receive honest expert advice in return.

Matt commented: “Events and communications is an ever changing industry, influenced by new technologies and changes to human behaviours. The future of our industry is shaped by emerging talent, and we feel it’s essential to support events education creating links to individuals joining our industry.”

Oliver Lanz, an MSc Events Management student, really valued the session. He said: “The event was a way to re-group the cohort to continue learning about the fields they have chosen to study. This far into the pandemic, it was motivating to have a shared learning experience once again.

“The guest speakers brought the issues facing the event industry to the forefront with an optimistic outlook that was truly inspiring. The Q&A session at the end saw many students asking questions, demonstrating how engaging and educational the experience was.”

Andri Sveinsson, and undergraduate Sports Business management student, commented of his experience “…..it was incredibly engaging and insightful. It was great to hear what the guys had to say about the changes that are happening in terms of their live events and it certainly got the creative cogs turning!

“A massive thank you once again for organising it and for inviting me to be a part of it”.
