Business School Students Exceed Fundraising Target for Vietnamese Flood Victims

Lincoln Student Managed Investment Fund, along with academic Dr Hao Quach, update on their fundraising activities following the 2020 flooding in Vietnam.

Last year, the Lincoln Student Managed Investment Fund (LSMIF) put out a call for help to raise money for those in need following catastrophic flooding in Vietnam via a GoFundMe campaign with a target of raising £1,000. To date this has reached £1,620 (17/02/21).

Working with the National Economics University (NEU), the aim was to work with local authorities in the hardest hit regions to ensure any raised funds went directly to those who needed help most.

The NEU organised a delegation to visit areas that were flooded, and after discussions with Vietnamese local authorities, decided to help several primary schools by funding equipment such as tables and chairs, along with other necessary learning equipment to ensure young people could resume their studies.

President of the LSMIF, James Stenson, explains: “The LSMIF were pleased to be able to assist and organise a GoFundMe campaign.

“We are glad that the money has been used to help restore normality to some primary schools in the region as they offer refuge and safety, along with being a vital part of each community.

“We are very grateful to the NEU for facilitating and distributing our charitable donation.”
