The University of Lincoln, UK, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the North-West University, South Africa

The North-West University, South Africa and University of Lincoln, UK Virtual MOU Signing Ceremony

The University of Lincoln has signed a partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the North-West University, South Africa. The partnership is built on a shared set of values including a sense of community citizenship, excellence in teaching, high standards in research and sustainability, and support of mutually beneficial collaboration outcomes.

The agreement was signed during a virtual signing ceremony on 3 November 2023. The partnership provides mutual opportunities for staff and student exchanges, collaborative online international learning (COIL) initiatives, joint funding applications, collaborative research projects, interdisciplinary sustainability forums, and enhancement of the internationalisation agenda. This will also further enhance the international classroom experience for our students and our global reputation.

The virtual ceremony was attended by the following University of Lincoln staff: Simon Lilley, Interim Dean of the Lincoln International Business School; David Rugara, College Director of Internationalisation; Siobhan Goggin, Head of Department Accountancy, Finance, and Economics; Nadia Gulko, Associate Professor of Accounting; Tracey White, LIBS Internationalisation Lead.

From the North-West University, the ceremony was joined by Prof Verona Leendertz, Deputy Dean Research and Innovation; Prof Babs Surujlal, Executive Dean Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences; Prof Ntebo Moroke, Deputy Dean Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations; Prof Herman Van Der Merwe, Deputy Dean Teaching and Learning; Prof Pieter Buys, Research Director Management Cybernetics; Prof Sanlie Middelberg, Professor of Accounting.

David Rugara, the College Director of Internationalisation at the University of Lincoln, commented:

The signing was followed by a visit by colleagues from NWU University on 20-24 November 2023. The three NWU colleagues visited Lincoln as part of the staff mobility programme, and they embarked on joint research and teaching projects. New collaboration opportunities for COIL projects are being pursued for all the CoASSH Schools.
