Alumni Focus: Tom Porter – BA (Hons) Advertising and Marketing

BA (Hons) Advertising and Marketing graduate, Tom, tells us all about his experience studying at Lincoln International Business School, and why he chose Lincoln. 

Why did you choose your undergraduate course and Lincoln in particular?

The opportunity to study both Advertising and Marketing at university was limited. After assessing all my options, Lincoln suited me the best to develop both personally and professionally.

What did you enjoy most about your chosen course?

The wide array of modules alongside industry-leading tutors provided me the knowledge and support needed, for a successful degree.

What were the positive aspects of your course on you and your chosen career?

The degree taught me the foundations of a full-funnel advertising/marketing strategy which I now utilise daily.

Did you undertake a professional practice year? 

No.

Have you secured graduate employment? Tell us about your role, your employer and your responsibilities.

I currently work for Amazon. My primary role is to facilitate business growth across PAN-EU bases through Amazon’s wide array of Advertising solutions. Working closely with household brands, I support and advise on advertising strategies.

Were you part of any societies and / or sports teams?

Football team.

What advice would you give to someone else looking at your course?

Be nice to Tracy (Programme Leader), work hard, inputs = outputs, think outside the box.

What advice would you give to others choosing an undergraduate degree? 

Choose what is right for you and not what you feel pressurised to do.
